Throughout this course, I've developed a sense of confidence about my role as an instructional technology coach. In learning how to meet the needs of 21st century learners, I've learned about incorporating the 4Cs - collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity. Collaboration and communication can be implemented through project-based learning, which can involve a multitude of Web 2.0 tools. The roles of teachers are changing, as we are becoming facilitators of knowledge - which makes for student choice and student voice.
This aligns perfectly with technology, in that students can use podcasts, screencasts, and virtual/augmented reality to not only learn, but express what they know and share with others. Use of hashtags with Tweets can help students and teachers connect with each other, and those inside and outside the school community. In learning about Copyright and Creative Commons, I am more equipped to teach students how to use and cite sources correctly. Use of Augmented and Virtual Reality can also benefit collaboration and communication, which leads me to Global Collaboration. Global Collaboration truly involves internet safety in response to the 4Cs. In communicating and collaborating, students must know not only their role, but also how to respond to others.
The blog posts within this course were a true learning experience for me, as I developed skills in blogging that resulted from learning about Web 2.0 tools, assessment tools, and virtual/augmented reality, aligned with Copyright and Creative Commons. I also learned how professional learning is a part of being an instructional technology coach, from the aspect of being a participant and being a leader. A challenge for me was exploring all of the blog tools and then incorporating my new knowledge into a post that truly reflected what I learned. My accomplishments in this class will be reflected in my teaching practices for years to come.
